A Bicultural Creative Class for Ages 10–13Amigos y Artes is a 5-week Thursday evening class designed to bring kids together through art, culture, and connection. This collaborative class is co-taught by Carina from Amada Language School and Amanda from Flourish, blending language learning and creative practice in a joyful, welcoming way.
Students will explore Latin American art and craft traditions, learning about traditional mediums, cultural history, and context while being gently introduced to bilingual (Spanish/English) practices. Language is woven in naturally through conversation, storytelling, labeling, and shared art-making.
Week 1: Papel Picado & Story Symbols
Week 2: Alebrije-Inspired Creature Sculptures
Week 3: Andean Textile Patterns
Week 4: Lotería-Inspired Personal Cards
Week 5: Retablos / Story Niches
This class is intentionally process-focused and relationship-centered, with an emphasis on friendship, curiosity, and creative exploration. No prior experience in art or Spanish is needed—just an openness to learn and connect.
