About Our Guests:

Lindsay Adams

Lindsay Adams (b. 1990, Washington, D.C.) is a writer and painter working across traditional mediums. Employing her educational foundation as a social scientist, with a background in foreign relations, sociology, and cultural anthropology, she systematically engages in her work with precise critical analysis and a perceptive understanding of the complex fabric of social dynamics. Lindsay received her B.A.s in both in International Studies: World Politics and Diplomacy and Spanish from The University of Richmond.

Embracing her intersectional identity, Lindsay’s work serves as a reflection of self, exploring personal and collective histories and the role imagination plays in mining the complexities and nuances of life. Her current body of work is a conceptual investigation of the balance between the known and the possible, examining themes of place, liberation, expanse, and freedom. Each intuitive mark invites a dialogue between reality and dreaming, as she mines through layers of gesture and color to build worlds. Adams alternates between abstract and representational forms, employing formal techniques that highlight the physicality of paint and the delicacy of gesture. In this way, she weaves multiple paintings within one, crafting a rich tapestry, informed by interconnected experiences that invites reflection on the boundlessness of dreaming. Adams work highlights her interest in constructing imagined ecologies, spaces in which rhythmic gestures and dynamic hues engage in a continuous dialogue.

Lindsay Adams is currently finalizing her MFA in Painting and Drawing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago She has been the recipient of the Helen Frankenthaler Award in 2024 and the New Artist Society Merit Award in 2023. Her work has been exhibited at the Baltimore Museum of Art, MD and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, Washington, D.C., and is included in the collections of the Baltimore Museum of Art and Northwestern Law School.

FINGY

FINGY is a Producer, DJ, and Vocalist who gets people out of their heads and on their feet. Raised in Los Angeles but trained in Chicago, FINGY’s DJ sets bounce from deep wax cuts to SoundCloud sonics, encouraging full body movement through infectious melody.  Blending world elements of electronic, funk, hip-hop, punk, pop and more, the diverse sound of their production defies easy categorization. FINGY’s latest ep, “forgive Me, indefinitely” has left a profound mark on Chicago’s music scene and the concept of club culture as a whole. Their newest unreleased mixtape, “CLUB ETiQUETTE” is anticipated to push that envelope forward.

Since 2019, FINGY has played Chicago’s most acclaimed venues: Smartbar, Metro, Thalia Hall, Lincoln Hall, Sleeping Village, Schubas Tavern, Empty Bottle, SOHO House, Blind Barber, Easy Does It and more. Partnered with their venue rounds, FINGY also has festival experience under their belt,  headlining sets at Wicker Park Fest, West Fest, and DJing alongside Nina Tech at Summer Smash Festival. FINGY has recorded sessions with Elevator Music, Le Bump, Audiotree, and notably aired on Diplo’s Revolution. Making their EU/UK/AS DJ debut this past Summer, they additionally have recorded sets with Lusophonica (Lisbon), The Brewcast (Tokyo), and Matter of Time (London).

Sheila Rashid

Sheila Rashid, Chicago’s bespoken designer, has shown remarkable talent in her journey to create pieces that confront and curtail gender identity. This unisex brand takes a new approach to creativity, simplicity, and persistency. Sheila’s goal has been to design with a unique perspective and an acute attentiveness to detail. Her brand’s individuality has attracted many popular artists, such as Zendaya, Lena Waithe, Bella Hadid and Chance The Rapper to name a few. Each of her pieces are made-to-order and reflect her own sense of style, combining both tomboy and feminine qualities.

About AMFM

AMFM is a Chicago media based arts platform that supports and features emerging visual and interdisciplinary artists, musicians, designers, and creatives from Chicago, and all over the globe, with an emphasis on Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA artists. We support artists through our web content, curated events, exhibitions, partnerships, and activations. We connect artists to opportunities to showcase art with partner spaces and venues like the Bronzeville Winery, The Promontory, and Practical Audacity, an LGBTQIA centered therapy practice at the Kimball Arts Center. Through programming, AMFM combines the arts in traditional and nontraditional spaces to cultivate community, diversity, inclusivity, intergenerational engagement, and of course, good vibes with a purpose, mission, or cause. Noteworthy past projects include our programming and exhibitions at our former gallery space from 2016-2018, The Jazz Series, a pop up music showcase featuring musicians specializing in contemporary music influenced by jazz, Feast, an art and music festival raising awareness about food deserts on the South and West sides, and partnering with Saatchi Art's The Other Art Fair, EXPO Chicago, and The Hoxton for AMFM L!ve, a talk show in front of a live audience centering Chicago creatives.
