Amethyst Fest

We are a Horton Based dance school and company working to build a home for the youth in Chicago's under-represented areas. Currently we are working out of our studio on the west side, but many of our students commute or are unable to register because they are on the Southside of Chicago. This summer The Hawkins House of Horton is Partnering with The Diamond Dance Company to bring our dance initiative to the southside neighborhood of Hyde Park.

The Summer Program would run for 3 months from May to July and would conclude with a Summer Showcase in August. Not only would our children be able to showcase professional choreography in front of their entire communities, but they will be provided a diverse and extensive dance curriculum that will be instrumental in their growth as professionals.

We are raising $20,000 to pay for operating expenses at the southside location, staff salaries for three months and the end of the year production costs.

This June the 26th we are holding a festival with the community to raise the money as well as distribute free essential items to the community. The Amethyst Fest features vendors, food, drinks and live performances by some of Chicago's most talented dance companies and musicians.
