The U.S. Small Business Administration, in partnership with Workforce Solutions Cameron, invites you to participate in a series of upcoming sessions designed to assist small businesses in hiring and accommodating individuals with disabilities.
Session 1: Disability 101
What is considered a disability? Any physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. What matters is an employee’s ability, not their disabilities. This session promotes looking beyond the disability to the actual talent and potential of employees with disabilities.
Session Objectives:
- To examine stereotypes associated with common disabilities
- To illustrate participants’ emotional reactions to specific disabilities
- To better understand the impact of attitudes toward people with disabilities and how they can affect relationships with others
