The Arizona Winds proudly concludes its 2025-2026 season with American Tapestry: Portraits of a Nation, a stirring concert celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. Join us on Sunday, May 31st at 4:00 p.m. at the Vista Center for the Arts, 15660 N. Parkview Place, Surprise. This special concert features iconic compositions reflecting the nation’s triumphs, struggles, and enduring spirit. The program opens with John Williams’ Liberty Fanfare, setting the tone for an afternoon of reflection and celebration, followed by his energetic and adventurous Cowboys Overture and the quintessential Americana themes of Aaron Copland’s A Copland Portrait. A highlight of the concert is A Lincoln Portrait, featuring narration by John Sipple, bringing to life the immortal words of Abraham Lincoln. Following intermission, the band honors America’s resilience with Ron Nelson’s Rocky Point Holiday, John Philip Sousa’s Liberty Bell March, and Jerry Bilik’s American Civil War Fantasy, evoking the struggles and triumphs of a defining era. The program continues with Robert Russell Bennett’s Victory at Sea and Stephen Melillo’s America the Brave, culminating in a rousing encore of Sousa’s Stars & Stripes Forever. This concert is more than just a performance—it’s a celebration of America’s 250-year journey.
