American Single Malt Whisky Tasting
About this Event
Last year American Single Malt whisky became an official category recognized by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). We'll have Clear Creek's McCarthy's made in Oregon using peated Scottish barley. St. George's "Baller" whisky finished in umeshu plum wine barrels will also be shared. Great way to lead in to the 4th of July weekend!
Steve McCarthy was at the forefront of the craft distillery movement and was one of the first to make American single malt whiskey. He has now passed on but left behind a legacy carried on by Master Distiller Caitlyn Bartlemay who trained with him long before he died.
California's St. George Spirits was one of the first malt whiskey's to make a big splash 20 years ago. "Baller" was designed with highballs in mind like is so popular in Japan. They call it "American-made. Japanese whiskey-inspired."
