American Red Cross Advanced Life Support (ALS) Instructor Course-Blended LearningThe Advanced Life Support Instructor course is designed to prepare instructor candidates to use course and presentation materials, conduct training sessions and evaluate the progress of candidates in an advanced level course. Upon successful completion, candidates are eligible to provide participants with the knowledge and skills they need to assess, recognize and care for patients who are experiencing a cardiovascular, or respiratory emergency. This is a one day blended learning course. A few of the specific topics covered in the in-person portion of the class include the following:
Preparing and delivering lesson topics.
■ Providing directions.
■ Completing lesson topics within suggested time frames.
■ Managing skill stations and running team response practice and testing scenarios.
■ Coaching and prompting participants.
■ Evaluating skill performance, determining proficiency in performing skills and providing positive, corrective feedback to help participants improve their skills.
