Spectrum ends its 37th season with a special fundraising event,
“American Portraits”, at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth.
The evening begins with a performance in Wesley Hall, featuring music of great American composers: George Gershwin’s jaunty Promenade (“Walking the Dog”), Samuel Barber’s moving Adagio for Strings and Copland’s iconic Suite from Appalachian Spring (original 13-instrument version).
The Barber and Copland pieces will be conducted by our special guest, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra Music Director Laureate, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, and the ensemble will include FWSO Concertmaster, Michael Shih and 2022 Cliburn International Amateur Piano Competition winner, Jon Lee.
After the performance, those who have purchased reception tickets will go outside to the church’s beautiful garden courtyard for refreshments and an opportunity to mingle with the artists.
The proceeds from this event go toward compensating the 2023-24 Spectrum artists for their time and talent. Plus, it’ll be FUN!
