American Mahjong Beginner Lesson

Meet up with other Mahjong beginners and learn the game! Sawyer will walk you and 11 others through American Mahjong, and start you off on your gaming journey. Sets, tiles, racks, and cards will all be provided!

American Mahjong is a unique modern game based on the traditional Chinese game of Mahjong where you have a card that shows you all the different Mahjong hands you can attempt to go for. It’s then a race to see who can complete a hand the fastest. The card that shows your possible hands changes every year and it allows repeat players to try out new strategies and gain a sense of variety.

Seating is limited to 12 guests. We will meet at Chaotic Good Cafe at 200 W 84th St on the Upper West Side of NYC. We do ask all attendees to purchase at least 1 drink during their time at Chaotic Good.
