πͺβοΈ This year, we are featuring LIVE MUSIC from The Fighting Jamesons from 6-8 PM!
ποΈ If you know of a cancer survivor, someone currently battling cancer, or someone whose loved one has been affected by cancer, please help spread the word. There are several ceremonies honoring and remembering all affected by cancer in our community, including a FREE dinner reception from Pollard's for every registered cancer survivor + 1 caregiver. We'd love to honor as many as we can! π

π The Relay For Life of South Hampton Roads theme for 2026 is Fight Cancer in ALL Colors. For those who want to create a fundraising team, we recommend decorating your campsite in the cancer ribbon color that most represents your Relay team! For those coming to participate in the day's festivities, we recommend dressing in a color that represents the cancer ribbon closest to your heart.

_____
IS IT A RUN? πββοΈββ‘οΈ
β No. At Relay For Life's core, the event is a walk that takes place around a track surrounded by various vendors, volunteer-created fundraisers, and fun activities for all ages. Volunteers and those in our community take turns walking laps to symbolize that cancer never stops, so neither do we. Don't worry - if you choose to walk a lap, it's at your own pace!
_____
WHAT IS THERE TO DO?
Plenty! Be sure to walk around to check out all the fundraisers that our volunteers have created that are located around the track that benefit the American Cancer Society! π° These may include raffles, craft sales, clothing sales, games/activities, etc!
Relay is also an event full of activities for all ages! There will be:
- Food Trucks π π
- Live Musicπ€πΈ
- Local Vendors π·οΈ
- Silent Auction ποΈ
- Kids Activities π₯³
- Themed Walking Laps π©·β€οΈπ§‘πππ©΅πππ€π©Άπ€π€
- & more!
_____
DO I HAVE TO STAY ALL 7 HOURS? β°
Of course not! You can come and go. But please note that there are activities planned for each half hour of the event! π
βοΈ Most notably, there will be a Cancer Survivor & Caregiver Ceremony at the start of the event you won't want to miss! Near closing, we have our Luminaria Ceremony where we line the track with paper bags dedicated to our loved ones touched by cancer. We share a moment of silence as the luminarias illuminate the night to celebrate cancer survivors and to remember loved ones lost to cancer π
_____
CAN ANYONE PARTICIPATE?
β Yes! Our event is open to the public. The more, the merrier!
ποΈ Please pre-register online at https://relayforlife.org/shrva. You can then share your fundraising page on Facebook and via email to ask friends and family for donations!
π§βπ§βπ§βπ§ If you want to become more involved, you can always create a fundraising team! Whether you are a one-person team, a team of co-workers, or a team of friends, all teams are welcome. πPlease visit our Getting Started & Resources page for more info: https://secure.acsevents.org/site/TR?fr_id=111493&pg=informational&sid=208116&name=getting-started. π I'M A CANCER SURVIVOR/ CAREGIVER. WHY COME?

Cancer Survivors will later get an email from the American Cancer Society where you can sign up to get a FREE Survivor t-shirt! π
There will be a Cancer Survivor & Caregiver Ceremonial Lap at the beginning of the event and a Luminaria ceremony to celebrate and remember all those touched by cancer at the end.
π There is also a FREE Cancer Survivor dinner (provided for survivors and one caregiver only) fully donated by POLLARDS CHICKEN and amazing door prizes being raffled off at the dinner reception!
_____
π° CAN I SPONSOR THE EVENT?
Absolutely! Any business, from a large corporation to a small local boutique can be a sponsor of our event. A sponsor's business will be featured on our website at https://relayforlife.org/shrva for becoming a sponsor.
