[EN] Our forests are under serious threat, and the time to fight back is now. That’s why we’re bringing the Amazon to Luxembourg, and we want you to join.

🎵 Special Guest: Jean-Marc from Schëppe Siwen
The largest rainforest in the world, the Amazon is home to millions of people, has unique biodiversity, and plays a vital role in regulating the climate. But in just 50 years, over 17% has been destroyed and we are close to a tipping point where parts of the forest may turn into a savannah.
One of the main drivers? Industrial cattle ranching for the global market, including Europe.
The good news: a new law, the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), originally set to come into force at the end of this year, could protect over 8 million hectares worldwide by 2035.
The bad news: industry lobbyists want to delay and weaken the EUDR. Meanwhile, EU leaders are pushing a trade deal with Mercosur that would increase meat imports from Brazil, fuelling deforestation.
This year, world leaders will meet in the heart of the Amazon for #COP30 in Belém, Brazil. This is our moment to move from empty promises to real action.
Join us on October 23 to urge Luxembourg to oppose the EU-Mercosur deal and defend the EUDR. Let’s demand real action to #RespectTheAmazon: no delays, no loopholes.

Plus grande forêt du monde, l’Amazonie abrite des millions de personnes, une biodiversité unique, et joue un rôle vital pour le climat. Mais en seulement 50 ans, plus de 17 % ont déjà été détruits, et nous approchons d’un point de bascule, où certaines zones pourraient se transformer en savane.
Une des principales causes ? L’élevage industriel de bétail à grande échelle, destiné au marché mondial, y compris l’Europe.
La bonne nouvelle : Une nouvelle loi européenne, le Règlement contre la déforestation (RDUE), initialement prévu pour entrer en vigueur fin 2025, pourrait permettre de protéger plus de 8 millions d’hectares d’ici 2035.
La mauvaise nouvelle : L’industrie agroalimentaire fait pression pour affaiblir et retarder cette loi. En parallèle, l’UE veut conclure un accord commercial avec le Mercosur, qui augmenterait les importations de viande depuis le Brésil, alimentant davantage la déforestation.
Cette année, les dirigeant·es du monde entier se réuniront au cœur de l’Amazonie, à Belém, pour la #COP30. C’est notre chance de passer des promesses à l’action.
