The American Civil War viewed through Christian Theology
About this Event

This 90-minute specialty tour provides a Christian theological perspective on the American Civil War, as well as its application to the McGavocks and other similar families. This tour is based on the well-known Christian hymn by the same name, which was written in the latter part of the 18th century by John Newton. Newton was a converted slave trader who later had a large impact on the abolition of slavery in England. In Abraham Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address he stated “...both sides read the same Bible and pray to the same God.” The Amazing Grace Tour provides an opportunity to expand our understanding and explanation of this tumultuous time in American history through the lens of Christianity and faith.
