Artists Bio.
Amal Kaawash
Amal studied Arabic singing in Beirut and has collaborated with various local and international musicians in Lebanon and abroad. In addition to songwriting and composing, Amal’s interest extends to musical folklore mainly from the Levantine area. Her latest shows in Lebanon included “Perfume and Henna” (2018) a celebration of the Palestinian heritage, “We Have Decided So” (2019) and “Whale, Let Our Moon Be” (2020) featuring a number of originals and a selection of traditional Arabic songs. As an illustrator, Amal is known for her cartoon character; Meiroun, named after her family’s home village in Palestine, ethnically cleansed in 1948.
Farah Kaddour
Farah Kaddour is a Beirut-based musician. She holds a master’s degree in Musicology from the Antonine University. She works mainly in the field of folk and classical Arabic music. A member of many music ensembles as a Buzuq player, including Aseel Ensemble (2013 - 2019), Metro Al Madina Theater (since 2016), Kollektiv Tarab (2021). She also works as a Program Officer at Action for Hope, specifically on music-related projects.
