About this Event

This is a four session course and is held IN PERSON:

Mon Jan 19 - 10:00am-2:00pm

Tue Jan 20 - 10:00am-2:00pm

Wed Jan 21 - 10:00am-2:00pm

Thur Jan 22 - 10:00am-2:00pm
This unique course, taught by internationally-recognized script supervisor Daniela Saioni, spotlights the director's process of selecting the shots they will use to tell their story visually. The training includes the tools of the director, technical considerations like axis of action and editing theory, various coverage scenarios (group scenes, fight scenes, dinner table scenes and more), designing transitions, and a brief introduction to script analysis and how that can translate to shot choices, as well as the opportunity to create a shot list for scenes from existing shows or your own work in progress with direct feedback from Daniela.

She created this course because in her on-set role in helping directors troubleshoot coverage issues, she noticed that a surprising number of filmmakers increasingly have never specifically learned how to translate their understanding of the script into a visual storytelliing plan - or at least one that more specifically reflects their vision and the subtext of the scene.
AM I COVERED? takes all the questions, worries and fears filmmakers have expressed on the job to Daniela over the years and addresses them in an entertaining and accessible way in a safe learning space, without the pressure of a producer and film crew breathing down your neck as the production clock ticks.
This course has attracted aspiring and working directors alike, as well as other crew members looking to better understand the director's process.
