About this Event

Date: Saturday, October 24, 2026

Time: 9:00am - 11:00am (Volunteer check-in starts at 8:45am)

Meeting Location: Bayside Canning Company, 1298 Hope St, San Jose, CA 95002

With a fascinating industrial and maritime history on the southern shore of San Francisco Bay, Alviso is one of the region’s most distinctive and historic neighborhoods. It is also one of its most neglected, with too many of its landmarks left to languish in a state of chronic neglect, including the c.1929 Bayside Cannery and the c. 1860 Wade Warehouse, which was destroyed in a June 2021 fire. Without immediate intervention and reinvestment, the historic character and integrity of this National Register-listed district could soon be lost forever.
