On Thursday, Oct. 20, UPMC Altoona will hold a Breast Cancer Awareness Month Health Fair at Station Medical Center.On this date, women who are eligible through their insurance for a screening mammogram, and who do not already have an upcoming scheduled mammogram, can receive one without an appointment. Walk-in any time between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at UPMC Altoona Imaging Services at Station Medical Center (located next to the breast health center) to receive your mammogram. A doctor's order is not needed, but we do ask that you designate a doctor at the time of screening to receive and interpret your results. If you don't have a doctor, we can help you find one. If you have health insurance, it will be billed for this screening. Women without health insurance are welcome and encouraged to come for a screening -- assistance will be provided to cover the cost.
No appointment is necessary for this event on October 20, and walk-in mammography is also available other weekdays at Station Medical Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you'd prefer to schedule your mammogram, call 814-889-4222.
Screening day events will also be held at UPMC Bedford on October 18 and at the UPMC Outpatient Center in Ebensburg on October 19.
