About this Event

The Alternative Endings: Watermelon Woman @ 30 symposium from 9:30-6:30 pm on Saturday, October 17th, at Northwestern's Downtown Campus is part of a two-day program honoring the film's legacy.

On Friday, October 16th, from 4-6 pm, a screening of shorts by local filmmakers, curated by Sisters in Cinema Director Yvonne Welbon, will be held at the Logan Center at the University of Chicago. Following the shorts program, the Chicago International Film Festival's Black Perspectives program will host a reception from 6-7 pm, followed by a screening of The Watermelon Woman, and a talkback with Cheryl Dunye and filmmaker Stephen Winter.
