Amanda is a Xicana Indigenous artist who works with watercolor and gouache, binds multimedia art books, paints textiles and has a community art and social justice education practice in collaboration with BIPOC adults and young people. In recent years she has focused on healing through connection, reflection, learning about her indigenous roots and putting those teachings into practice. Join us as Amanda shares her own experiences with altar making and the connection she feels during and after the process. Amanda will also be presenting on different ideas and philosophies around altar making. Following the presentation, students will have an opportunity to build an altar in The HUB Cultural Center. Supplies will be provided. (For SSU community only)
