Altar Twerk

Altar Twerk is a guided movement ritual experience where you are both the altar and the offering.

This monthly offering invites you to expand your thoughts around what prayer looks like. Dance is one of the earliest ways that humans connected with the Divine. Using our bodies to express joy, grief, pleasure, and distress allows us to process our emotions and release them. In this experience we will combine dance with energy work to activate the areas we tend to carry emotions: our hips, lower back, gut, and thighs. We will be twerking ourselves back into alignment!

This is a beginner friendly experience, twerk enthusiasts of all levels are welcome. This space is open to all womxn identified folx and centers the Black Femme experience.

Savannah will open each session with a grounding practice and ancestral acknowledgement. Next a full body warm up and introduction to basic twerk moves. Savannah will guide participants through a movement prompt, the prompt is a jumping point - an invitation for folx to allow their body to move intuitively. Our ritual will end with a freestyle dance party and a re-grounding practice.
