Alt Baithak: Sensory Overload

Alt Baithak is a baithak for all alt artforms. From music and dance to poetry and visual art anything that can present itself under the "alt" umbrella can be found here. Our goal is to make alt artforms more accessible to students across Delhi.

If you're a student who is alien to Delhi's alt scene we welcome you! You are the reason we are doing this. If you're a performer/consumer of alt art then you should definitely be a part of this to find out what the newest faces in the scene are upto!

The 3rd edition of Alt Baithak will be a 2-day event.

DAY 1:

• Art Exhibit: Experience visual art, both physical and virtual that causes a near fatal sensory overload.
• Workshop 1: Sampling Audio by Imerohi & Aaira will take the attendee through the general idea of sampling found sounds and voice. It will also take you through Imerohi's process as an artist and how they incorporate sampling in an otherwise live-centric setup.
• Short Experimental Visual Art Film Screenings curated by Out of Sequence.
• Workshop 2: Making Music With ORCA by beatnyk, will take the attendee through ORCA, an open-source 2D visual programming language that lets you create music live.

DAY 2:

• Art Exhibit (Same As Day 1): Experience visual art, both physical and virtual that causes a near fatal sensory overload.
• Open Mic: carefully chosen artists will perform music or poetry.
• Film Screening + Discussion: Fantastic Planet by René Laloux
• Artist Showcase Act 1: Anjali (Soloboldreads) is a part-time poet and a full-time student in Delhi, who will be presenting her work accompanied by Imerohi and Shivansh Aggarwal, who will be scoring it live.
• Artist Showcase Act 2: Kavya is a contemporary dancer based in Delhi who talks to the audience through her performance.
• Artist Showcase Act 3: Anjali Dhingra is a songwriter, composer, producer and vocalist narrating the deepest dreads and dreams through her psychedelic soundscapes and introspective storytelling. Her music aims at exploring complex human emotions and situations by fusing the nuances of western classical music with modern genres. 
• Artist Showcase Act 4: Songs For a Tired City - "I make ambient music for a city that’s like an itch you just can’t stop scratching. Think custom tape loops, warped samples, field recordings, analog modular synths and some off-kilter drum machines. My music invokes longing for a past I never actually experienced and a sense of disquiet for a future I don't really want to experience".
• Artist Showcase Act 5: Imerohi is a Delhi based music producer and performer whose music revolves around sleep, dance and revolution. They will be accompanied by Aaira, an artist blending Western influences with her own storytelling sensibility. As a singer-songwriter from Noida, she aims to paint moods and emotions through voice, harmony, and atmosphere.
• The Colours We Hear: Acts 3, 4 and 5 will be visualized live by Bhagyashree on a canvas. The core of her work has always been drawing parallels between seemingly distinct and separate things, whatever medium it maybe. We'll also have Parsha projecting some crazy visuals during these acts.
