About this Event
How much choice to we have in our lives? Is everything already predetermined and mapped out? Even our salvation/faith? Or do we have the freedom to decide everything from who we date/marry, what job we take, where to live, and ...whether to follow Jesus or not? (And if we do own that choice...can we also opt out?)
Join us as we revisit a classic debate that has baffled humanity for roughly a bajillion years (well...at least for a couple thousand).
Not only will we look at how salvation works - who takes that first step of faith? Us? Or God? But we'll also look at the real life applicaiton of the two camps (Reformed/Calvinist/Predestination Theology vs Wesleyan/Arminian/FreeWill Theology).
We'll be considering theological AND practical questions like:
- How can God be good if He knowingly chooses some people to go to Hell?
- How can I know I'm on the right path in my own life? Will God redirect me if I'm not? And how?
- If things are predestined, do I have any choice or agency in my life at all?
- If I participate with God in my salvation, can I also lose my salvation?
- Is God fair?
- Does God know what we're going to decide before we do?
- What's the difference between God KNOWING everything that's going to happen and Him DECIDING everything that's going to happen?
- Did Jesus die for EVERYONE? Can ANYone be saved?
Whew! We're going to need some good cold beer to go along with all these questions, so come hungry, thirsty, and curious!
