For the second edition of Humbucker Music's residency at the Tranzac, we are delighted to welcome the duo of Allison Cameron (electronics) and Scott Thomson (trombone), who are celebrating the release of their beautiful and strange album "Platanus" on Montréal's Ambiance Magnétiques.
This beguiling album pays homage to the late Nobuo Kubota over three long-form pieces in which Thomson's expansive trombone vocabulary intertwines with Cameron's performances on various electronic implements including the Crackle Synthesizer, which was given to her by Kubota.
Humbucker Music, meanwhile, is a new improvising quartet founded by Nick Storring and featuring Mira Martin-Gray, Colin Cudmore, and Jason Doell all of who perform using their namesake—acoustic guitar humbucker pickups—which are used both to amplify and sound a variety of metal objects and instruments. We are in residence in the Tranzac's Southern Cross Lounge until September on the first Fridays at the month.
