March 25 - Dennis Demcheck - All About Hummingbirds Join us on Wed. March 25 at the Main Goodwood library in Baton Rouge in Room 102 for a presentation by long-time self-proclaimed Humnut, Dennis Demcheck. The talk will focus on hummingbirds typically seen in Louisiana, particularly the Ruby-throated Hummingbird. We will discuss their life history, including feeding, courtship, and nesting. We will emphasize their impressive migratory behavior and their important role as pollinators. We also will discuss aspects of their daily lives during the time when they are not visiting our feeders. The highly visual presentation also will list plants favored by hummingbirds throughout the year.
