P&T Knitwear welcomes Alix Sloan and Jennie Willink to read from and discuss their debut middle grade book, The Peonies: Summer in the City. What happens when two eleven-year-old best friends find out this is their last summer together? They turn the worst news ever into the time of their lives.

Poppy and Esme (aka The Peonies) live in the same apartment building in New York City where they share a lively, non-traditional "friend-family" and are practically inseparable. After the shock wears off, the tweens set out to earn enough money to purchase two very special, very expensive, matching friendship necklaces. They start a dog walking business, Peony's Prancing Pups, and the adventure begins. Together, the Peonies impress skeptical grownups, tame unruly canines, and come to terms with the idea of living thousands of miles apart — all while having the best summer ever! ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Alix Sloan and Jennie Willink are longtime friends and creative collaborators who met in New York City and share their own lively, non-traditional friend family. Inspired by all of the amazing young people in their lives, they set out to create a story about kids like them, for kids like them - and The Peonies were born. Alix and Jennie continue to write, together and individually, and hope you enjoy the adventures of Poppy and Esme.
