Come along and watch a quality film, then enjoy a very special Q+A afterwards with local filmmaker Brian Jamieson, director of this film.Alice presents TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN KA SHEN'S JOURNEY, a definitive and true life story of NANCY KWAN, who as a young Eurasian girl from Hong Kong captured the hearts and minds of cinemagoers around the world in her stunning motion picture debut role in THE WORLD OF SUZIE WONG (1960), then in her unforgettable follow up role in the 1961 film FLOWER DRUM SONG.
Directed and written by Brian Jamieson, the film depicts Kwan's meteoric rise to fame, reflects on her background as the child of a Chinese student and an English stage actress in 1930s London and raises questions about the constraints faced by Asian actors at a time when it was still acceptable for Anglos to don Yellow-face makeup.
