About this Event
Join us as we welome Ali Gordon on tour with her novel We Have Reached The End Of Our Show - joined by Jamie Shriner & Brendan Tran.
Think of this as more than a book event - but a full SHOW! Comedians Jamie Shriner and Brendan Tran will kick things off.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Quiet, caring Josie and rebellious performer Gabe have been together six years when they hear the news: a world-ending asteroid is set to hit Earth in twenty-five days. This is devastating for humanity, but for Gabe, it’s simply speeding up what his terminal diagnosis had already set in motion. The world is thrown into chaos around them, and when Gabe’s young, carefree cousin Lisi shows up with a car and a plan, the three begin a journey none of them ever expected: a road trip through the end of the world.
Profound, moving, and delicate, We Have Reached the End of Our Show is a crystalline depiction of the best of humanity. Gabe, Josie, and Lisi take turns driving us through a story about real love, real family, and the real purpose we find when the careful map of our life is ripped from under us, laying bare the unexpected nexus of ties that connect us to each other.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
is a writer, performer, and educator living in Los Angeles. A New York City native, Ali spent many years in New York working as a musical theater actor as well as performing comedy at the renowned Upright Citizens Brigade theater. She holds a double major in musical theater and English from the University of Michigan. Ali also writes musicals and has performed and taught comedy all over the world. She promises she is quite funny despite the subject matter of this, her debut novel.
Jamie Shriner is Chicago-based musical artist and comedian whose debut EP "Good Grief," explores the grief of her divorce through song and whimsy (now streaming everywhere). A former theatre kid, current queer & hard of hearing divorcé, Jamie uses humorous original songs to discuss her struggles with dating, body image, womanhood, and being queer in Indiana where she grew up. Jamie was named Best of the Fest at Big Pine Comedy Festival and Laughs After Dark Comedy Festival and is a regular feature at Zanies and Laugh Factory Chicago. The host and producer of Chicago Underground Comedy has opened for the likes of Beth Stelling, Randy Feltface, and Chrissy Chlapecka, and is a former Features Contributor for The Onion. Her debut comedy special, Corn Baby, is available to stream on YouTube, Spotify, iTunes, and more.
Brendan Tran: Brendan is a comedian, writer, and filmmaker from Chicago. He's a graduate of the Second City Bob Curry Fellowship, and recently performed his solo show HOLE IN THE WALL L’HOPITAL, one man's journey through grief after the passing of a father with whom he had a difficult relationship, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
