About this Event

Come discover the courage, accomplishments, and contributions of Alexandria's Black residents. Hear about Hannah Jackson, who in 1820 became one of the first Black women in Alexandria to own land. Stop by the Freedom House Museum, where one of the country's largest slave-trading companies used to be. Find out why the Oswald Durant Center was named after a pioneering Black doctor. Learn about some of Alexandria's Black-owned businesses, including the cafe where we'll end the ride.

We'll meet at Waterfront Park, just south of the art installation. The route is about 11 miles, with a mix of trails and streets and some hills: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/47056402. If you'd like to join for just part of the ride, that's fine too.

Riders of all ages and abilities are welcome, and we'll wait to regroup if we get separated. We'll be riding on some busier streets with traffic, so everyone will need to be able to control their bike.

If you've participated in BPAC's Black history rides in the past, many of the stops and info on this year's ride are new.
