Alexander Gallant is a folk singer-songwriter from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. In the tradition of A Singer With A Guitar, Alexander’s songs are simple, direct and have one foot firmly planted on the ground. Taking inspiration from the folk revival of the 1960’s, Alexander's music is a blend of open tuning style fingerpicking and percussive strumming paired with humorous and personal poetry. Alexander uses his writer's wit to put a contemporary spin on everything from ballads, classic country, and talking blues. Alexander Gallant released his debut record, Waiting Tables Blues with Tibet Street Records in November 2023 and is currently working on his sophomore record which will be released in Spring 2025.
As a part of the growing artists hub and gathering space at 45 Portland St in Dartmouth, Alexander has gained notoriety supporting and working with Joel Plaskett on his secret Window Inn performances, frequently performing new material to sold out crowds alongside many notable musicians such as Mo Kenney, Jenn Grant, Rose Cousins, Kim Harris, Stuart Legere, and scores of other acclaimed Nova Scotian artists.
David R. Elliott is a prolific Canadian songwriter and a mainstay of the east coast music scene. His respect for the craft of song is inclusive of all genres and his exploration of lower working class struggles is eastern Canada's answer to Bruce Springsteen, Randy Newman and Jim Croce, with a wide array of influences adding nuance and character to his raw recordings.
The Abbey is a vegan cafe with great food options and a variety of hot and cold drinks, including a selection of alcoholic beverages. It has a semi-private room downstairs that we use for shows (please reach out with accessibility concerns). With a mix of tables, chairs and a couch, it can comfortably seat 30 people and up to 40 in the standing room at the back. It is a cozy space for an intimate performance with your listening audience.
