Alex Hammond-Chambers; Advice for non-professionals in the investment world
About this Event
Having provided guidance on investment portfolios as part of his fund governance responsibilities, Alex decided to write a simple guide to help others with their stewardship of investment portfolios - his book – “Looking After Other People’s Investments”. Over his 60 year career, the investment business has become much more complicated – making it quite a tough challenge for those with responsibility for other people’s investments.
Having provided guidance on portfolios to four charities over the last 20 years, Alex has chosen to set up a new charity – The Minerva Trust - to help trustees with their investment responsibilities. The book provides them with a simple reference guide. Alex intends that future editions of the book will address other responsibility roles – such as being a director of an investment company or even personal investing.
In a two part career, Alex was an investment manager at Ivory & Sime during the market turbulent decades of the 1960s, 70s & 80s during which he looked after investment trusts with portfolios with a bend towards smaller companies in America. He latterly became Executive Chairman of the firm, by then a quoted company.
