A free, interactive training session to help increase your knowledge and confidence in offering support and advice to others.
About this Event

Thank you for your interest in Alcohol Identification and Brief Advice (IBA) Training! This in-person 3-hour session is full of hands-on learning, interactive activities, and practical insights.

During the session, you’ll explore:

  • The risks and dangers of alcohol use
  • What alcohol units are and how to calculate them
  • How to use the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT) and have supportive conversations about the results
  • How to provide safe harm reduction advice and signpost people to specialist services

But this training isn't all theory. You’ll get to:

  • Step into someone else’s shoes with beer goggles and experience the effects of alcohol
  • Join in with interactive challenges testing your knowledge of standard drink serving sizes
  • Practice giving advice with confidence
  • Take part in quizzes and friendly competitions

By the end of the training, you’ll walk away with practical skills, a solid understanding of alcohol-related risks, and confidence in supporting others—all while having a fun, engaging experience that sticks with you.

Here's what some of our recent attendees have said about the session: "Just want to say thank you very much. The session was eye-opening“, "Really good mix of practical and theory”, “Interactive and interesting – topics coving a broad aspect of alcohol use and effects."
