Spain’s official entry for this year’s Academy Award for Best Int’l Feature Film won the Golden Bear (top prize) at last year’s Berlin Film Festival. It was also one of the five int’l movies nominated for the 2022 European Film Award for Best Film. Set in Catalonia in eastern Spain (the language is Catalan), this sun-saturated film focuses on a family of longtime peach farmers facing the loss of their land and orchard to the construction of a solar farm. “Balances a bristling political conscience against its tenderly observed domestic drama.” –Variety.
