Explore the global connections between Albany and the arts & gardening styles from around the world, exploring a new region each session.
Discover how Albany was a crossroads for arts and horticulture from around the world through special talks exploring the Ten Broeck Mansion's fine art and decorative arts and gardens.
Each talk explores the interchange between a specific area of the globe and early Albany NY each session. The themes reflect the topics of our family program series running concurrently that day. Programs are recommended for adults - for children and youth, please see our other listings. Participants are encouraged to register for a full tour of the Ten Broeck Mansion held at 1 pm, 2 pm, and 3 pm.
June 15: Celebrate Juneteenth Weekend with us! African Arts & Plants at the Ten Broeck Mansion - explore the African in the gardens and the history of African and African American foodways in Albany
June 29: European Arts & Plants at the Ten Broeck Mansion - explore the rich decorative arts traditions from Europe in the Ten Broeck Mansion
July 13 : Asian Arts & Plants at the Ten Broeck Mansion - explore the arts of Asia, plus enjoy a taste test of teas from around the world
July 27: South American Arts & Plants at the Ten Broeck Mansion - explore the rich traditions and impact of South America on Albany arts and foodways
August 10: Arts & Plants of Oceania at the Ten Broeck Mansion - explore the rich traditions and impact of Oceanian on Albany arts and foodways, plus a special 18th-century style pineapple display with fresh flowers
September 7: Arts & Plants of North America at the Ten Broeck Mansion - participate in our annual jelly-making program using our own Ten Broeck Concord grapes and special tour of the Ten Broeck Mansion

Accessibility: ADA parking with tags/plates is available next to the Ten Broeck Mansion. The Ten Broeck Mansion has two 5" steps about 10 feet apart, and some of the programs will use the historic staircases. Please contact us in advance for further information or visit our website. Please wear walking shoes and be aware of uneven areas and a small slope towards the Mansion.
Parking: free parking in our lot off Livingston Avenue.
On foot: We are easily accessible on foot - sidewalks lead up to the Ten Broeck Mansion. Please note there is a gradual rise uphill.

Participants are asked to follow safety practices. Please dress comfortably and wear shoes/sneakers for walking in a garden. Bring your own water bottle.
