Adults are invited to join us in the IPL Community Room on Monday, February 23, 2026, for Dr. Scot Duncan's talk "Gardening for Birds, Bugs, and Biodiversity (And Why It Matters!)"!Birds add color, song, and vibrancy to the natural landscape, and are essential to sustaining the ecosystems keeping us alive and supporting our quality of life. And yet, bird populations have declined 30% in the past 50 years in the US, including Alabama. What are the causes of bird decline, and what can we do to reverse this trend?
Dr. Scot Duncan, Executive Director of Alabama Audubon and author of the award-winning Southern Wonder: Alabama’s Surprising Biodiversity, will share stories about the importance of birds and what his organization is doing to save birds. He will focus on what landowners can do on their properties to help bird populations recover and ensure a healthier future for us all.
