Street photography is all about capturing everyday life, authentic moments, and the character of a place as it unfolds around you. From busy sidewalks and local architecture to candid interactions and interesting details, daytime street photography offers endless creative opportunities for observation and storytelling.
In this meetup, we'll explore techniques for photographing people, scenes, textures, and movement in natural light while learning how to work confidently in public spaces. We'll discuss composition, timing, camera settings, and how to notice compelling moments as they happen. Along the way, participants will take part in guided shooting exercises designed to help sharpen both technical skills and creative awareness.
Bring your DSLR or mirrorless camera. Cell phone cameras are also welcome. A versatile lens is recommended. The lens that came with your camera will work well, along with a short zoom lens such as a 24–70mm or a prime lens like a 35mm, 50mm, or 85mm.
Since this is a daytime street photography event, there is no need for a tripod. We recommend reviewing your camera's exposure settings, autofocus modes, and basic composition techniques before the meetup so you can feel comfortable shooting in changing street environments and natural light.
We'll be walking several city blocks throughout the event, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
