This class will be for one hour for 6-week consecutive weeks and held every Saturday (major holidays excluded) starting November 8, 2025 (weather permitting) in various parks in the Phoenix West Valley.
A well-trained, happy dog is a welcome member of the community.
The goal of the class is to prepare you and your dog to take the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test at the 6th & final class. Kristie, the positive reinforcement dog trainer, is an approved CGC Evaluator & will be administering the test. Each dog will be tested individually on all 10 test items. Each dog must pass each 10 test items to earn her CGC Title through the AKC which the pet parent is responsible for reaching out Directly to the AKC.
Additionally, every dog that passes will earn a CGC Ribbon. Other CGC award items are also available for purchase through the AKC's website.
Requirements:

2. Your dog has solid loose leash manners with limited to no reactivity to humans, dogs or other things in the environment.
3. Proof of Rabies, Distemper/Parvo & Bordetella Vaccines
4. Liability Waiver Signed

About CGC: The Canine Good Citizen program is an AKC initiative promoting responsible dog ownership and basic good manners for dogs. The CGC test consists of 10 real-world skills (like polite greetings, controlled walking, and reliable obedience) that every dog should have to be welcomed in the community.
Training for CGC deepens your bond with your dog and helps them become a polite member of society.
The CGC certificate is widely recognized as a “badge of honor” for well-trained dogs – it’s often a prerequisite for therapy dog programs and a foundation for more advanced dog sports.
Many insurance companies even recommend CGC certification (and some landlords require it) to demonstrate a dog’s good behavior.
In short, CGC training will not only teach your dog the basics like sit, down, and stay, but also build the confidence and manners needed for outings in public.
By the end of this course, you and your dog will be a more connected team, ready to ace the 10-step CGC test and enjoy the benefits of a Canine Good Citizen title!
