Air Pollution Air Table: Cultivating Grassroots Activism

The Social Innovation Partnership in collaboration with Centric and Science Practice, and funded by Impact on Urban Health, is hosting an exciting workshop on the barriers underrepresented communities face to engagement in the air pollution agenda despite being disproportionately impacted by it, and how grassroots activism through different mobilising, organising, and campaign strategies seek to address that.

We’re conducting research with Impact on Urban Health who are collecting insight for their Amplifying Voices strand of the Air Pollution Strategy. This is to recognise that those most affected by air pollution in Lambeth and Southwark are often not in the conversation when institutions think about these issues. In light of this, we aim to tackle important questions of whether local campaigning addresses the matter of impact and inclusion - seeking to understand if you are being heard? If not, why? How do you need to be heard and why? What does hearing you look like?

We warmly invite community members and organisations to take part in our workshop to engage with these concerns, encouraging a process of mutual sharing and learning. This is the first instalment in a series of co-design and co-production workshops for air pollution campaigners to develop and cultivate their voices into actionable change.

This event is an important opportunity to reflect, share insights, collaborate with others and strengthen our solidarity within the air pollution space.
