The Melbourne Southern Branch of AIR guest speaker on this occasion will be Nick Staikos the State Member for Bentleigh, a district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly covering Bentleigh, Moorabbin and McKinnon as well as parts of Ormond, East Bentleigh, Hampton East and Brighton East.
Nick is currently Deputy government Whip in the Legislative Assembly,
Secretary of the Parliamentary Labor Caucus and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer in the Andrews Government.
Nick attended local primary and secondary schools before completing a Bachelor of Arts
(Honors) at Monash University. At 19 he became the youngest councillor to be elected to the City of Glen Eira council.
Nick has been involved in many local projects (too many to mention here) but he will be remembered as someone who worked tirelessly to save and redevelop the East Bentleigh site into what is now GESAC (Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre).a major public asset for local families.
Nick comes from a family that has given much to the local community. His cousin Steve Staikos is currently Mayor of Kingston council, a position that he has held in the past.
