DIRECT FROM NEW YORK CITY... Dance St. Louis and PNC Arts Alive present one of the most popular dance companies in the country — Ailey II — for a special, unique and powerful presentation as the company takes to the stage for two nights in celebration of its 50th Anniversary.
Be amazed and engrossed by the dancers’ sheer beauty, artistry and “off-the-charts energy” (The New Yorker).
Don’t miss the chance to have the ultimate transformational experience of seeing Alvin Ailey’s iconic masterpiece “Revelations,” the most widely seen modern dance work in the world, performed live onstage by the beloved company.
Each evening’s program also includes premieres:
• Francesca Harper’s “Luminious,” a work paying homage to five decades of Ailey II and the artists who have paved the way for future generations
• Baye & Asa’s “John 4:20,” an expanded duet the choreographers originally created in 2018 to explore their shared history and divergent identities
• Judith Jamison’s “Divining,” a solo excerpted from her first major work as a choreographer for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, created in 1984 at the request of her mentor, Alvin Ailey.
Founded in 1974, Ailey II embodies Alvin Ailey’s pioneering mission, and under the leadership of Artistic Director Francesca Harper the company continues to thrive.
The company is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country’s best early-career dance talent with the passion and artistry of today’s most outstanding choreographers.

Arrive early to enjoy a pre-show program in the Touhill’s Terrace Lobby, featuring an art exhibit by local students inspired by “Revelations,” a Q&A session with representatives from Ailey II, and a live vocal performance by The Phil Woodmore Singers.
