Ellingson Sensei began studying Aikido at Utah Aikikai in 1998. He has studied many different systems and styles of Aikido, including different teaching methods within different organizations. Ellingson Sensei focuses on the disciplines of Kaeshi Waza, Randori, and the principles of Takemusu Aiki, during his Aikido keiko. He also focuses on blending Aikido with the study of personal Self Defense and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to round out his Budo training. He likes to run a very rigorous and energetic class which emphasizes a balance between effective technique and philosophical principles of Budo and Aikido studies. He is currently chief instructor, Dojo Cho, and president of Aikido Mountain West.
