AIA Arizona presents its annual State Conference where attendees will be inspired from presentations on myriad facets of our profession.
About this Event

Join us at the AIA Arizona State Conference on Friday, October 18! We expect more than 400 architecture professionals to gather for an inspiring day!

Individual tickets are now on sale through this Eventbrite page, and early bird ticket prices are available now through October 2.

The conference is chaired by Rachel Green Rasmussen, AIA, principal at Architekton who is the 2024 president-elect of AIA Arizona. With the theme of Facets, the conference will inspire and empower attendees with engaging presentations and conversations on myriad facets of our profession, from sustainable design to equity to community engagement to our future in a desert environment.


General Timing for October 18:

7:00 a.m. Registration opens, with coffee and light breakfast

8:00 a.m. Program begins

5:30-6:30 p.m. Closing Reception


Speakers:

For the second consecutive year, the conference speaker lineup will include the most recent recipient of the AIA national’s highest honor for an architect, the Gold Medal: David Lake, FAIA, of renowned firm Lake|Flato Architects Architects in Texas. David Lake and Ted Flato are the 2024 AIA Gold Medal recipients known for innovations in sustainability.

Billie Tsien, AIA, the New York-based architect of Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects + Partners. The firm has designed the Obama Presidential Center now under construction in Chicago.

Susannah C. Drake FAIA FASLA, of Sasaki, who is currently leading a comprehensive master plan for Taliesin West.

William Horgan, AIA, of Grimshaw, with expertise in sustainable architectural design incorporating regeneration, livability, and wellbeing.

Natasha Sandmeier, who teaches at UCLA with a focus on visual media and storytelling. She is the Executive Director of the A+D Museum in Los Angeles.

Michael Anderson, principal of the firm Anderson Barker, a purpose-driven design firm in Los Angeles focused on transforming challenging communities.
