A senior-friendly guide to understanding digital safety, Australian laws, and protecting your rights in an evolving tech landscape.
About this Event

As Artificial Intelligence becomes a larger part of daily life, understanding your legal rights, privacy protections, and safety boundaries is essential.

This session breaks down how Australian consumer laws and safety frameworks protect your money, identity, and personal decisions without requiring any technical background.

What you’ll learn:
  • Your Rights & Australian Law: Learn how Australian Consumer Law, the OAIC, and privacy regulations mandate human oversight on automated financial and health decisions.
  • Scam Awareness & Deepfakes: Recognize AI-powered voice cloning (such as the "Hi Grandma" scam) and celebrity deepfake investment traps using simple verification techniques like the SAFER framework
  • Privacy & Family Safety: Understand what personal data is safe to share with AI tools and how to establish a Family AI Safety Agreement using secret verification words

Who should attend:
  • Adults aged 50+ curious about online safety
  • Parents and grandparents guiding young people in the digital world
  • Anyone aged 50+ who wants to feel more confident using technology

About the speaker:

Dr Eunice Sari has spent 25 years helping people and organisations use technology confidently. She leads the WA AI Hub and has taught and advised people across Australia, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the USA. Eunice loves cutting through confusing tech-speak and making things simple, safe, and easy for everyone to understand.
