About this Event
AI is already changing legal practice β from confidentiality and client intake to governance, compliance, and day-to-day workflows. This half-day workshop is designed to help legal professionals understand what AI means for their practice and how to approach it responsibly.
Join us on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Ontario Bar Association in Toronto for AI in the Law: Governance, Compliance, Confidentiality & the Future of Legal Practice.
This practical, in-person workshop will help you:
- Understand how AI systems actually work in legal practice.
- Identify confidentiality and privacy risks when AI is used in legal work.
- Navigate key Canadian governance and compliance issues, including AIDA, PIPEDA, and Law Society guidance.
- Evaluate AI tools more critically before using them in your work or firm.
- Leave with practical frameworks, checklists, and policy ideas you can apply right away.
This event is designed for lawyers, legal assistants, law clerks, final-year law students, and NCA candidates who want a grounded, Canadian-focused discussion on AI in legal practice.

What happens to your client's data the moment it enters an online AI tool. Open source vs proprietary AI and the gap in current legal education. Which AI tools are safe to use for legal work and when a local solution is the only compliant option.
