AI in social services symposium

Join the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for a symposium on the responsible use of AI in social work, social care and children and young people's services.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is already part of how social services work and its role is growing. The question for everyone is how to use it well.

Earlier this year we published our five key principles for the responsible use of AI. At the symposium we will launch our new guidance for workers and employers on putting those principles into practice. This event is open to organisations and individuals across the sector, specifically to people who are guiding their team or service through the adoption of AI and the changes that are coming.

Through presentations, workshops and panel discussion, the day will explore:

• how AI is being used in social services now and where it is heading
• the new SSSC guidance on using AI well and what it means for workers and employers
• how ready your organisation is to adopt AI safely, with practical frameworks you can take away and use
• what research tells us about AI's impact on critical thinking and professional decision making
• a human rights approach to AI in social care, keeping dignity, choice and control at the centre
• whether AI strengthens care or diminishes its human value and how to tell the difference.

This is an interactive event designed to encourage conversation and discussion.

Workshops and discussion sessions throughout the day, and what we hear from you, will shape how the SSSC and its partners support the sector next.
