AI in Education

Join us to discuss the role of AI in Education- a pertinent and forward thinking topic with impact on us all. The session will feature a presentation by Professor Michael Grove (pictured below) followed by contributions and a panel discussion including Lunar Society Fellows Dr Rashida Sharif and John Rainford as well as education entrepreneur Zubair Junjunia. Chaired by Professor Jonathan Green FTLS (Deputy Pro-Vice- Chancellor for Education, University of Birmingham) the event will bring together diverse perspectives and will explore the benefits, opportunities and challenges of AI in the context of Schools and Universities. This is a fast-moving area affecting how we teach, how students learn, assessment and the maintenance of standards. It also has implications for the broader skills agenda and employment.

Professor Michael Grove BSC MSc PhD NTF FIMA is a Professor of Mathematics and Mathematics Education at the University of Birmingham. He is Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education Policy and Academic Standards and leads on the University’s approach to developing policy on the use of AI.

Dr Rashida Sharif is a Trustee of the Lunar Society and is an expert in Secondary School Education.

John Rainford is a recent Trustee of the Lunar Society, co-creator of Darwin Matrix App and visiting fellow of the Birmingham Business School.

Zubair Junjunia is an early career educational activist, social entrepreneur and the founder of ZNotes, an online learning platform.

Parking is available in the North East Car Park, off Pritchatts Road, B15 2SA. The building is a 9 minute walk from the car park.
