AI for Business Leaders - A Hands-On Workshop in Santa Monica

Most people I talk to are in the same spot. They use ChatGPT a bit. They read the posts. They sit in a meeting where someone says "we should be using AI for that," everyone nods, and nothing happens. Meanwhile there is a stack of work every week that eats hours and that nobody enjoys.

This is a morning for those people.

Ten of us, in a room in Santa Monica, for four hours. You bring one or two things you do every week that you would happily never do again. We work on those. You leave with something running that you built yourself.

We start by going around the room. Your name, what you do, and the thing that is eating your week. This takes fifteen minutes and it is the most useful part of the morning, because you will hear four other people describe your exact problem.

Then we work. Not a lecture. You, on your own laptop, building. I will show you the handful of things that matter and skip the ninety percent that does not. By the end you will have at least one thing automated, and you will understand it well enough to change it on Monday.

A lot of people wait for their company to decide something. The committee meets, the policy gets drafted, the risk assessment goes around, and a year passes. Most people in this room will be paying their own way and coming on their own time for exactly that reason. What you learn on the day belongs to you and moves with you, whatever your employer eventually decides.

8:30 - 9:00  Coffee and sign-in. Come early if you want to talk before we start.

9:00 - 9:25  Around the room. Name, what you do, and the thing eating your week. Everyone speaks. This sets up the whole morning.

9:25 - 9:55  How these things actually work. The mental model, in plain language. Why they are good at some things and confidently wrong at others. No tool tour, no hype, no history lesson.

9:55 - 10:45  Build one: the thing you brought. Hands on keyboards. I go person to person. You will have something working before the break.

10:45 - 11:00  Break.

11:00 - 11:50  Build two: connect it to your real work. Your documents, your spreadsheets, your inbox, your actual process. This is where it stops being a demo.

11:50 - 12:20  Show the room. Everyone shows what they built. This is where you find out that the thing you fixed is a thing four other people also have.

12:20 - 12:45  Where it breaks. What not to trust it with, what your company should worry about, what to keep away from it, and how to tell when it is wrong. The part most training skips.

12:45 - 1:00  Your first move back at work. Before you leave, you write down the one specific thing you will do when you are back at your desk, while it is still fresh. Then there is time to trade contact details with the people you want to stay in touch with.

• A laptop you can install things on and log into your accounts from. If it is a locked-down work machine, bring a personal one if you have one.
  
• One or two real tasks you do every week and dislike. Bring the actual thing -- the spreadsheet, the email you keep rewriting, the report you assemble by hand. Specific beats hypothetical.

A few days before, I will email you one question about the work you want to fix, so I can prepare for what is actually in the room rather than guessing.

We work primarily in Claude, made by Anthropic. It is what I build with every day and it is the strongest tool available for the kind of work most people in this room need to do. I am not affiliated with Anthropic and I make nothing if you subscribe.

The skills transfer. Structuring a task, giving a model the right context, checking its output, knowing when to hand it a job and when not to -- none of that is specific to one product. If your company standardises on ChatGPT, Gemini, or Copilot, everything you learn on the day still applies. You are learning how to work with these tools, not how to operate one vendor's buttons.

You do not need a paid subscription to attend. If you want one, roughly $20 a month covers it, and I will tell you honestly when the free tier is enough.

Do not bring anything confidential, regulated, or covered by a customer agreement. We work on real tasks using non-sensitive material, and we spend part of the morning on exactly where that line sits and what your IT and legal people are right to worry about. You will leave better equipped to have that conversation at work, not more likely to trip over it.

You do not need to be technical. You do not need to have written code. If you can use a spreadsheet, you are fine here.

I could run this on Zoom for a hundred people. It would be worse.

The part that matters is sitting at a table with nine other people who are in exactly the same position, and realising you are not behind. You are early, and so is everyone else. That does not happen through a screen. Ten is the number where everyone gets to talk and everyone gets help with their own problem.

Doors and coffee at 8:30, we start at 9:00 sharp, done by 1:00. Bring a laptop. Parking in the area fills up, so give yourself a few minutes.

Ten seats. When they are gone, the next one is Thursday, 24 September 2026.

I record these sessions so I can watch them back and get better at running them. Nothing is ever published. No clips, no social posts, no marketing use, no website video, not in full and not in part. It is seen by me and nobody else, and it is deleted within twelve months.

There is a short consent form at the door. If you would rather not be recorded, tick the box and I will seat you out of frame. You lose nothing.

I am telling you this before you buy a ticket rather than on the morning, because the whole point of the room is that people say out loud what they do not understand yet, and that only works if you know exactly where the tape goes.

Do I need to be technical? No. If you can use a spreadsheet you will be fine. Nobody writes code.

I have barely used ChatGPT. Am I too far behind? No, and you are the person this is built for. Most of the room will be in the same place.

I use it every day already. Is this worth it? Probably not. If you are building automations and running agents, this will be too slow. Email me and I will tell you straight.

Is this a sales pitch? No. I will not present my services from the front of the room. If you want to talk about working together, find me afterwards.

Will I actually build something, or just watch? You build. Roughly half the morning is hands on your own keyboard on your own problem.

Can I send two people from my team? Yes, up to two seats per company so the room stays diverse. Beyond that, the private version is a better fit -- email me.

Is food included? Coffee, yes. We finish at 1:00 so you can get lunch after.

Parking? Paid structures and street parking nearby, and it fills up. Leave yourself ten minutes.
