AI & Philanthropy: Building Capacity for What’s Next

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping how organizations operate, including in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. But beyond headlines and hype, what does AI actually mean for grantmaking, community engagement, and foundation leadership?

Join us on April 9 at Millwork Commons for a candid conversation with local foundation leaders exploring how AI is influencing philanthropy today — and what responsible adoption looks like moving forward.

This panel will examine:

  • How foundations are thinking about AI internally
  • What AI means for nonprofit partners
  • Risks, opportunities, and equity considerations
  • How philanthropy can lead thoughtfully in a moment of rapid change

Whether you work in a foundation, nonprofit, or are simply curious about the future of the sector, this discussion will offer practical insight and a forward-looking perspective from leaders actively navigating this shift.

Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with the discussion kicking off at 5 p.m. and ending around 6 p.m.

Panelists:

Tre ("Tray") Brashear, COO, Lozier Enterprise & Foundation

Tre currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Lozier Enterprise, LLC, which is the holding company of Dianne Lozier. Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, Lozier Enterprise has investments in banking, real estate, manufacturing, and retail automation, as well as public and private market holdings. Further, Lozier Enterprise operates the Lozier Foundation, a private foundation focused on the needs of disadvantaged individuals within the greater Omaha area that distributes roughly $40 million annually and operates both the Mandela Elementary School and Early Childhood Center. Tre received his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and a law degree from the University of Iowa. After practicing law for 20 years, Tre joined the Lozier Family in 2012.

Diana Martinez, PhD, Program Associate, Weitz Family Foundation

Before entering philanthropy, she worked in the arts and nonprofit sector at Film Streams and The Union for Contemporary Art, experiences that continue to shape her trust-based and learning-oriented approach to the field. She is particularly interested in how emerging tools like AI can support nonprofit learning, storytelling, and more equitable access to knowledge.

Anne Meysenburg, Nonprofit and Philanthropic Consultant

Anne Meysenburg brings over 20 years of experience helping mission-driven organizations grow, adapt, and navigate complexity. Her background spans nonprofit executive leadership, philanthropy, governance, fundraising, and organizational design. Anne holds a Master's of Public Affairs with certificates in Nonprofit Management and Public Policy, and is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy. She is deeply rooted in the Omaha and Nebraska nonprofit community, having served as President of the Nonprofit Association of the Midlands board and currently serving as Board Chair of the Center for Immigrant and Refugee Empowerment.
