About this Event
You are invited to attend an international conference on the art of Ahn Chang Hong. This event will bring together leading museum professionals, art critics, and scholars to examine the artistic and social significance of one of Korea’s most compelling contemporary artists.
This conference will explore Ahn Chang Hong’s critical engagement with societal injustice and his experimental use of diverse media, situating his practice within the broader context of contemporary Korean art and the global discourse of socially engaged art. The overarching theme, “A Critical Gaze Beyond Borders,” reflects not only the artist’s formal and material diversity but also the universal resonance of his work, which transcends cultural and national boundaries to address pressing social realities.
This academic gathering also serves as a prelude to Ahn Chang Hong’s forthcoming solo exhibition at the American University Museum in Fall 2026, underscoring the global significance of his artistic vision.
Join us for this international artistic gathering designed to deepen understanding of Ahn Chang Hong’s art and spark new conversations about the social role of contemporary art in a challenging and rapidly changing world.
Presented through funding by the Korean Arts Management Service and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and with funding and support from the Savina Museum (Seoul, Republic of Korea).
