Pediatric Advanced Life Support is a classroom, Instructor-led course that uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. PALS also teaches Pediatric CPR, the use of a bag mask and an AED for 1 and 2 rescuers. Students will practice skills along with the video, participate in megacode practice scenarios, take a written exam of 50 questions with a passing score of 84%. Participants will then be tested on one cardiac scenario and one respiratory or a shock scenario. Students who successfully pass the course will receive an American Heart Association PALS Provider E-Card good for two years.

Please note, the Pretest is now mandatory before attending the class and can be found at www.elearning.heart.org. In the search bar at the top right of the screen type in PALS Precourse. Make sure that you select this FREE course labeled PALS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precoursework. You must log in or create an account to continue. This precoursework will now take a solid 4-hrs to complete. There are two parts, you cannot stop during the first portion. Once you begin the first section of the online course, you must complete it in one sitting. You may return to do the second portion, which can be done in sections, at any time. Take a picture of your certificate or bring it with you to class.
Upon successful completion of the PALS Provider course, students will be issued their AHA PALS Provider Card via email within 12 to 48 hours.
