About this Event
Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification – American Heart Association
What does this course teach?
The Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course is designed to prepare healthcare professionals and trained responders to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest, respiratory distress, and airway obstruction. This course emphasizes high-quality CPR, effective team-based resuscitation, and early use of an AED to improve patient outcomes in both adult and pediatric populations.
The course follows the 2025 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) and includes hands-on skills practice, realistic case scenarios, and team-based simulations that reinforce critical concepts. Upon successful completion, students must pass a multiple-choice written exam and demonstrate required skills competency in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) standards.
After successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants according to AHA BLS guidelines
- Recognize cardiac arrest and initiate CPR within 10 seconds
- Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) quickly and effectively
- Provide effective ventilations using a bag-mask device
- Recognize and manage choking in responsive and unresponsive patients
- Apply high-performance team dynamics during resuscitation
- Differentiate patients who require immediate intervention from those who do not
- Demonstrate appropriate BLS care in special situations (e.g., opioid overdose, drowning)
Course Topics Include:
