Agroecology experience and visit London's oldest tree
About this Event
Join this small group eco-tour to experience first-hand how a working agroecology farm operates, visit London's oldest tree, the Totteridge Yew, soak in some nature at the Darlands Nature Reserve, and finish with a stop at the pub to regroup and share a drink with new friends.
Get involved in some hands on regenerative agriculture tasks at Grow Agroecology Farm - get stuck in and have a real impact at this brilliant community initiative. Enjoy their weekly market stall and see the produce varieties of this working farm. Pass by London's oldest tree, the Totteridge Yew, and look in awe at this totem that has been standing for between 1,000 and 2,000 years. Walk through the Darlands Nature Reserve soaking in the impressive woodlands and Darlands Lake, before finishing the walk at The Orange Tree pub, a lovely spot for a drink and debrief.
This is a small group tour of just ten people so we can join the partner organisations' existing activities for you to see them in action, and intimate enough that you'll get to know the people you're walking with. These events are designed for eco-conscious travellers who want to meet like-minded people while they're away, learn from community environmental initiatives they wouldn't otherwise encounter, and give something back to the places they visit. The knowledge you pick up from a permaculture forest garden or a wetland saved from developers by local campaigners can all be put into action at home.
Tickets start at £4.50, which covers a donation to our non-profit partner organisation, We Are Grow. If you'd like to contribute more, you can add an optional donation at checkout or pay for a full price ticket. Anything above the £4.50 goes to Earth Stewards Travel Club, a social enterprise on a mission to reduce the climate impact of travel and tourism. £4.50 (15% of the face value of a full price ticket) is donated to our partner for each ticket sold.
This is a trial of the event. We'd love your honest feedback at the end of the afternoon, what worked, what didn't, and what we missed. That feedback will directly shape the official launch of this tour.
